Meet Sarah

Sarah Smylie helps organizations unlock the full potential of their team through thoughtfully improving their talent management practices. Over the past 20 years, she has worked extensively with senior leadership teams on change initiatives that have increased staff performance and engagement and fostered more inclusive, equitable environments. She has worked with both non-profit organizations and school districts. 

Before starting Potential Energy Talent Solutions, Sarah led talent strategy at Teach For America, where she convened cross-organizational teams to research, design, pilot, and implement innovative talent solutions in areas such as performance management and talent planning. In previous roles, she oversaw the design of staff hiring and corps member admissions.

Fueled by her life-long passion for eliminating inequities in education, Sarah serves as an elected school board member in the district her children attend. She leads the board's Student Achievement Committee.

Sarah has a BA from Brown University and an MPA from Syracuse University. She has a Certificate in Talent Management from UNC, Chapel Hill, and a Certificate in Education Finance from Georgetown University.
